Stay designing, my friends: Alfonso Albaisa named Motor Trend’s No. 4 Most Interesting Person for 2021

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Bold, daring, provocative — and now acclaimed. This month, Senior Vice President of Global Design, Alfonso Albaisa was named Motor Trend's No. 4 Most Interesting Person for 2021 thanks to his groundbreaking designs this year for INFINITI and parent-company Nissan.

"It's humbling and an honor to be recognized by Motor Trend and their editors this year," Albaisa said. "In reality, it's our teams and how we work together across the world that inspires me beyond description and I hope that one we manage to keep their attention next year as well".

Over the past few years, Albaisa and his team have overhauled INFINITI and Nissan's design language, transforming core models into breathtaking shapes that spark passion and exude power.

“(Albaisa’s) INFINITI concepts have been akin to pieces of rolling sculpture and the Nissan Z Proto has us excited for the return of the signature sports car…” editors at Motor Trend wrote.

Albaisa was featured on the same list at No. 36 last year, and successful launches, including the all-new 2022 INFINITI QX55, QX60 Monograph design study along with a number of new vehicle launches for Nissan this year undoubtedly propelled him up the ranks. The INFINITI QX55 first arrives in the U.S. and Canada in spring 2021, and the QX60 Monograph hints at a direction for a production-bound crossover to be revealed later.

What's next? Albaisa and his team are well underway with new vehicle launches and groundbreaking designs.

While he can't talk about everything he's working on quite yet, we're sure it will be interesting. That's been independently verified now.
